“The Conflict”

Love is a fleeting emotion.  Some couples stay together for years and the intimacy fades, but the bond between them grows into admiration and respect.  They live a life of support and every milestone is a grand occasion.

Most of us don’t make it that far.  The life we lead causes us to take different paths with one trying desperately to hold on and the other living a lie.

The small town of Brookwood held no secrets.  If a couple was unhappy everyone knew it.    Any hearsay would become fact after it was spoken.

Chris West’s adventure was public knowledge, which meant that every gossip in town had made sure his wife knew about it, but to her ignorance was better than the truth.

Jenna sipped her coffee at the kitchen table.  Her long blonde hair was tucked behind her ear.   An open window allowed a cool breeze to blow across her face, but she barely noticed.  Her eyes were holding a lake of emotion and she tried desperately to hold it back.

“I don't want to go on a cruise with 500 people that I don't know, laying around on a stinking lounge chair.  The boys and I are going deep sea fishing again this year."

"Chris, it isn't about the cruise, it's about us.  We haven't been on a vacation together since the kids were in school."  She reached out to touch his hand and he pulled away.

"Look, I have already made plans.  I am not gonna change everything just to suit you."

Chris stood up from the table and walked out of the room.  She watched as he walked away.  His belly stuck out from underneath his shirt, but it didn’t matter to her, she loved him deeply.  He walked down the hallway into the bathroom and closed the door.

He knew if he stayed in there, Jenna would bring up the girl.  She does it every time she gets pissed.

Three years ago, Jenna had worked an extra job writing magazine articles to purchase Chris and two of his buddies a fishing expedition to the resort.  It had been the best time of his life.  Now, it was a yearly excursion.

He leaned against the sink and peered into the mirror and let his thoughts drift back in time.

“Do you need some company Pappi?”

Chris looked up from the drink that sat in front of him.  The young girl was standing inches away from his face.  Her tan skin was smooth and the brown iris of her eyes sparkled and was full of life.  Her name was Angelica and in his world, her name was true to its meaning, “like an angel.”

She led him by the hand to the elevator and up to his room.

“Hey, maybe you, we, I, shouldn’t do this.”

She stopped in the hallway, walked up to him and just stood.  Her long black hair hang down past her shoulders.  The dress she wore framed her neckline perfectly and pushed her breast up to a point that barely covered her nipple.

Angelica's lips were painted red and the color was so deep he could see his reflection.  She tugged on his hand and brought his lips down to hers.  She exhaled and the warmth of her breath on his face made his heart skip a beat.  Her tongue met his mouth with her lips and in his mind, they were having sex.

Chris swallowed hard.  He was mesmerized.  That was the last negative word he spoke.  She never released his hand, until he sat down on the bed.  Her fingers hit every button of his shirt with precision.  She sat it neatly folded, on the table.   He watched as she walked around the bed back to where he sat.  The garment she was wearing teased her curves.

She gently removed his pants and underwear, then lay them across the chair.  Again, she stood in front of him.  He could not remember ever being that erect.  She stepped out of her heels and raised her short dress to her waist and removed her panties.  Chris tried hard not to release, the site of her shaved body caused a familiar throbbing.

She lowered one side of her dress from her shoulder, then the other.  It fell to the floor and Chris lay there in total awe.  Her fingers seemed to move in slow motion as she pushed her dark hair behind her ears and lowered her mouth on to him.  Her lips went all the way down and kissed his abdomen.  As she pulled away, the pressure of her tongue was too much to take.

Angelica moved quickly.  She slid on top of him and he easily entered.  The warmth filled her before he was completely inside.  She forced her lips down on his mouth and passionately kissed him.   Her hips flexed violently making a popping sound as her bottom hit his pelvis.  His eyes rolled back and for a moment only the whites were visible.

“Ahhhhhhhhh”, Chris released the sound from deep within him, but she wouldn’t stop.

He gripped her small body with both hands, forcefully bringing her down on to him.  His entire body went limp and she kissed him once softly and placed her head on his chest.  The next three nights made him feel young and full of energy.  He had fallen for her deeply and there was no return.

Things with Jenna was never the same after he arrived back in the states.  Her blonde hair and blue eyes were the exact opposite of what he craved.  Every spare moment was another opportunity to daydream.

For the last three years, he went there and met with the young woman.  Every year had taken him farther away from his marriage.  He resented Jenna, because he had erectile problems which he blamed on her.  In the throes of passion with Angelica, there was never an issue.  She raved about his sexual prowess and stroked his ego.

Jenna pressed her face up against the bathroom door.  Tears now ran down her cheeks and fell on the hardwood floor.

“Please, come out and talk this over with me.  I just want what is best for us.”

She waited on him to answer, but there was no response.

“Please, don’t go back down there.  Chris, I am not a fool.  You could care less about a damn fish.  It’s that girl.  I know it is.”

He jerked open the door so fast, it startled her.  She stepped back and raised her hands, if he attacked her.

“I was waiting for that bull shit.  That is your “go to” accusation every time we argue.  I am sick and tired of hearing about some make believe whore I was with on vacation.  DON”T EVER bring up that shit again, DO YOU HEAR ME.”

Jenna was in shock.  She had not taken a breath since the door opened.  They had raised two beautiful children and he had never lifted a finger to any of them.  Somehow, she knew that things were different now.  Tears ran down her face.  He heart pounded with a dull ache that wouldn’t go away.

Time stood still and when it moved, every second was exaggerated.  His words and actions played out in her mind.  For a moment, she was outside her body looking at the two of them arguing, then she was sucked back in and he was screaming once again.

“Are you deaf.  I said, DO YOU HEAR ME?”

Jenna just started shaking her head and she ran into the bedroom.  The dam had burst and the emotions came out.  Her ears registered the noise which sounded foreign, but she could not stop the escape from her body.

The pillow was the only silencer for what would have been screams.  At one point, her feet were kicking the bed like a child and her nails latched on to the pillow that covered her face.  Chris walked into the bedroom and stood over her.

“Damn, have you lost your mind.  All of this over some lousy fishing trip that YOU started.  If you were going to be such a bitch about it, why did you buy me the fishing trip to begin with.”

He waited for a response, but there was nothing but rage and hurt coming from her.  He stood there watching Jenna.  The screaming stopped and now there was nothing but sobbing and alligator tears which soaked the pillow.

Chris stood over her for a while and tried to answer the recurring question that came into his mind.

“Why do I feel nothing.”  It was hard even for him to understand, how he could feel anger, when his wife of twenty years lay broken on their bed.

He turned and walked out of the bedroom without a word.  The keys to his truck hang on the rack in the kitchen where Jenna had placed them every day since they moved into the house.  The walk to the truck was short and the drive to the bar wasn’t very far.

“Rum Runner” he said to the bartender, as he sat down.  The drink took him back to Punta Cana and with no one beside him at the bar, he enjoyed the memory of his angel once again.

"The Realization"

Jenna went to work every day at Alabama Heritage Magazine, but her heart wasn’t in it.  He had changed the trip from three days to seven.  They had barely spoke since the argument three months before.  It was like two strangers living together, cordial enough, but at the same time coldly distant.

Not even a blind man could miss the pep in Chris’s movements and his energy level, as the time approached for the vacation.  The day he left, was the first day of Jenna’s vacation.  In her mind, she dreamed that he would stay with her.

Chris packed his truck and went to the door and hesitated.  Jenna’s heart skipped a beat.  She ran up to him.

“Thank God, he has come to his senses.”  She said to herself and slowly walked up to him.  Her hands reached out and tugged lightly on his shirt.

“Don’t go Baby.  Stay with me.  We will do something wild.  We can go to Vegas or I’ll even go with you on your trip to fish.”

He pulled back from her.  His face wrinkled and he squinted his eyes to show his absolute disbelief.

“Don’t start your crazy shit again.  I just wanted to tell you that the tree cutters were coming by tomorrow to take down that large pine behind the house.”

The sound of Jenna’s heart could be heard outside her body.  There was no air in her lungs.  She could not remember breathing even minutes after the truck had gone out of sight.  Like a limp rag, her body slid down the wall onto the floor by the door.  The tile cold tile floor beneath her didn’t register in her mind.  Hours had passed and she hadn’t moved.  There had been no tears to shed.  She had done that for the last ninety days.  Now, it was just the realization that she was forty-one years old and married to a man she loved that had moved on.

It was around noon before she came to her senses.  The loud rumbling told her she had not eaten since lunch the day before.  Her mind swirled and indecision filled her thoughts.

“What do I do?”  She said out loud.

Her legs moved toward the couch, and awkwardly, she sat down.  Jenna stared into oblivion as she contemplated her life.  This was her first vacation in ten years.

She bent over and placed her hands over her face.  The pressure of her fingers eased the tension as she rubbed her temples and brushed through her hair.  For a moment, she did nothing.

A loud sound rang out, her phone rang loudly.

“Yeah Alabama, Crimson Tide…”  She breathed out a loud sigh before answering the call.

It was Carla.  She was her best friend and football buddy who insisted that her call tone be the Alabama Fight Song.  Jenna struggled for strength.  The last thing she wanted was anyone’s pity.

“Hey girl, what ya doing?”  Jenna’s voice registered a weakness that Carla had never heard.

“I was just calling to check on you.  I knew that Chris was supposed to leave, what happened?”

There was a hesitation and for a moment, Jenna thought she would faint when the words came out of her mouth.

“I, I think it is over.  There is something going on with him.  He hasn’t spoken to the boys but once in a month.  He didn’t even call them before he left.  That is so unlike him.”

Carla didn’t say anything, she new the story of his on-going visits and had told Jenna.

“Well, I get my lunch break in a minute and you are getting your ass out of that house.”  Carla said.

“I don’t know if I want to go anywhere. I can get an early start on some articles and I.”

    “Jenna!”  Carla yelled interrupting her.

“OMG, what.” She said then laughed for the first time in weeks.

“Get your ass ready and meet me at 5-points.”

“How long do you have?”  Jenna asked, looking for an excuse not to go.

“Till Monday!” Carla said and snickered like she was up to something.

“Oh, ok,  what do you want to eat?”  She asked.  Her voice trailed off looking for another reason to back out.

“Margaritas bitch.  Now get your clothes on, before I come over there and kick your butt!”

Suddenly Jenna regained some of her passion for life that everyone loved about her.  She started shaking her head.

“Alright, I’ll meet you there in thirty minutes.” she said.

Jenna pressed end and stood up.

“Yes, Margaritas!  Yep…that sounds good.  Margaritas with shots of tequila for an appetizer!

Jenna woke up at 1:00 in the afternoon, the next day.  When her eyes opened, the picture of the ocean, hanging on her wall, was upside down.  She was laying on top of her spread, with her head partially off the side.

Slowly, she took in the room.  There was no memory of how she got there or the way she wound up in that position.  Her eyes wandered around the room, until something caught her attention.  There was a note on the dresser.

Thanks Jen.  You were the best I’ve ever had.  Call me later!

The note was large enough to be read from her bed.  She raised up quickly and realized two things.  One that she was completely naked.  She grabbed her breast and then reached for her privates.  Thank God, they were there and unscathed.  She covered herself with her hands, in case anyone was still in the room.

She raised up quickly and sat on the side of the mattress.  The second thing, was her head felt like a bass drum, with someone striking both sides.  One eye hurt worse than the other.  She let go of herself and placed one hand on her head and the palm of her hand, on the eye that was pounding.

“Boy, I really over did it.”  She said as she laid back down.  At that moment, the hangover was so bad, the thought of anyone being in the room did not phase her at all.

“Water.” She said to herself.  “Have to hydrate.”   She sat up.  “And Tylenol.  Lots of Tylenol.”  The old mantra rang out in her head, “And a little of the dog that bit ya.” It was as if someone had spoken it to her.

“Oh hell no, nope….No!”  The thought of multiple shots of tequila flashed into her memory.

She managed to stagger into the bathroom, and like a woman possessed, started throwing things out of the cabinet, until she found the pain reliever.  They poured out into her hand and the number was not important.  She popped them into her mouth, and turned the water on in the sink.  Jenna completely ignored the drinking glass that sat beside the faucet and placed her hand underneath the water.  The liquid splashed into her mouth and on most of her face.

A sound came from behind her and the note flashed in her head.  She spun around and saw a person standing in the doorway.  She screamed.

“Dammit, you scared the hell out of me.”  Jenna said.

Carla stood there looking at her giggling.  Jenna was amazing.  Every curve was flawless, a life time of working out kept her muscle toned.  Her breast were very full and her body completely shaven.  Her blonde hair was naturally curly and it teased her nipples.

“What are you looking at?”  Jenna asked.

“Your husband is one dumb ass redneck.  Hell, I don’t have a gay bone in my body and I’d do you.”

“Shut up!  You’re so crazy.  Tell me who wrote the note.  Did I bring someone back here last night?”

Carla’s face lit up.  “Well, not somebody.  SOME BODIES!”

Jenna’s face went flush and she leaned her naked butt against the sink.

“OMG, you mean a threesome?”  Jenna asked in shock

“Ughhh, no more like a six-some.”  Carla teased.

“What, what, what the hell did you let me do.”

“Don’t get so excited.  Most of them were Mexican.  They can’t tell anyone, half of them didn’t speak English."

Jenna covered her mouth, which was the only thing not exposed.

“What the hell Carla,” A smile came up on her lips and her eyes were now open wide.

“Well, damn.  Did I have fun?”

    Carla laughed hysterically.

“Now that’s the Jenna I went to school with!   Yes, we had a blast, but nothing happened.  I was just messing with you.”

Jenna laughed and then wrinkled her nose.

“Damn, I was kind of liking the idea for a second.  You know, a little Hispanic for Hispanic type payback.”

“You are so damn crazy.  Get a shower and get dressed in a bathing suit.  I have lunch ready.  Besides, you are making me horny standing there all naked.” She said leaving the room.

Jenna rolled her eyes and walked over to the shower.   Carla walked back into the room.

“You know, I think I might be bisexual.  That is one nice ass!!”  Jenna didn’t pay her any attention.

“You better watch what you say.  It’s been long enough, I may take you up on it.”

She knew Carla wasn’t bi-sexual, she was tri-sexual.  In school, she had TRI-ED everything at least once with everyone except her.  They were best friends and Carla thought it would have been like doing her sister.

    Jenna stepped into the shower

“Well, I do want to thank you for last night.  The part I remember was awesome.”  Jenna said in a soft voice.

“No problem.  I love hanging with you.”  She walked over and rattled the shower curtain.  “Hurry up and let’s eat.  It’s seventy-five degrees and I want to work on my tan!”

Jenna let the hot water run across her face.  She allowed her mind think about Chris.

“He is waking up to her today.”  She thought and tears came to her eyes.  This time out of anger, but her heart still ached.  She poured the soap over the cloth and gently cleansed her body.  Her eyes looked down over her curves.

“Why am I not good enough.  Am I not attractive?”  She asked herself.  The water washed away the bubbles and she ran her hands through her freshly washed hair.  She didn’t realize that tears were coming from her eyes.

“I have to find myself.”  She said softly.  Her mind went into a thousand directions.

“How can I do that when I don’t even know who I am?”  She said below her breath.

In her mind, she didn’t blame Chris for not wanting her.  Self-deprecating thought made her assume she was the reason for Chris’ problem.

“He can get his dick hard for her and can’t for me?  What the hell is wrong?”    She placed her hands over her face.  In her mind, she just wanted to break down.

A vision of Chris with a sexy Hispanic girl, pulling her hair and pounding her from behind, entered Jenna’s mind.

“Fuck him.   FUCK HIM!”  She slapped the shower wall with open hands.

Carla’s familiar voice sounded outside the shower door.  “You ok sis?”

Jenna dropped her head.  Her nostrils flared as she cut the water off and reached for the towel over the door.

“No, no baby, I am not ok and I don’t know what it is going to take to make me that way again.”

Jenna wrapped her towel around her.  Water dripped from her hair.  Carla stepped up to her and gave her a warm hug.  Neither of them said anything.  Jenna stood there sobbing with her head laying on Carla’s shoulder, until there was nothing left.  When Jenna’s tears subsided, Carla dried her face with the edge of the towel.

“Come on girl.  Let’s go take the first step.”   Jenna pursed her lips and raised her eyebrows.

With a deep sigh, she placed her right foot in front of her and looked at it as if it belonged to someone else.  She closed her eyes and the other one followed.

Jenna clinched her teeth together.  “Okay.”  She said in a low voice.  “Here I go!”

“Red Neck Rivera”

The Tide might be crimson, but the Alabama sky is as blue as a sapphire.  The warm sun and a gentle breeze can take all your troubles away.  The blooms of the dogwood and the pear trees lined the river bank at Rocky Branch State park.  Sand was brought in from a nearby pit, for the make-shift beach.

“Welcome to the Redneck Rivera.” Carla said, spreading her arms like a tour guide.

Jenna looked out across the river which was a half-a-mile wide.  She took a deep breath and let it out slowly.  The sun shined down on her face and her eyes closed taking in the beauty, with her senses.

“We had some great times here.”  Jenna said softly, while she reminisced.  Carla walked over and held her hand.

“Come on, let’s get some sun.”

They walked down the sloping bank to the river’s edge and set up an area where they could tan.

“Sorry, I had to bring my car.  I am on call today.”

“How long are you going to volunteer.”  Jenna asked

“Well, until I get tired of it.  You know, I love it.  I can’t help it if I am an adrenaline junkie.”

Jenna finished spreading her blanket out on the ground.

“You are a lot of things junkie.”  She said.

“Don’t be jealous now!”  Carla said as she pulled her dark hair up on her shoulders.

Jenna checked her phone and there was still no response from Chris.  She thought about their wedding day.  He was so handsome coming down the aisle.  She had not looked at a man since.  Thinking of what lay ahead of her was exhausting.

“Dating!  OMG.  What have I gotten myself into.”  She said quietly.

“Hey, are you here with me?”  Carla yelled.

“I’m sorry.  You have a right to be upset.  He is such a DICK!”

“No, it’s not his fault.  I know there was something I could have done.  I could have been more passionate or took care of myself better.” Jenna said.

“Don’t even say things like that.  Look at you.  You are gorgeous.  Every man at this beach would throw you on your knees, if you give him half a chance.”

Jenna raised her eyebrows and tilted her head.

“Yes, but that’s not what I want.  I don’t want some man who just wants to stick his dick into everything moving.  I want true love with someone who is passionate and romantic.”

Carla interrupted her.  “Yes, Pinocchio wanted to be a boy, but he got a nose that grows and no dick.    You think the prince is going to show up and ask you to the ball?”

Jenna laughed at Carla, as she ran straight into the water without hesitation.

“Come on Cinderella, the water feels great.”

 THE TRIP

Chris walked into the bar where Angelica worked, flowers in one hand and a ring in the other.  He knew, that she wanted to live in the United States.  It was all she talked about when he would secretly call her, but he had not talked to her in months.  When he arrived there, he knew something was not right.  Nothing seemed the same, the old rustic décor was renovated.

“Excuse me miss, but do you know if Angelica is working today?”

“Oh, I sorry.  I no speak Ingles.  Un momento por favor.”

Chris waited for a while before chasing down another employee.  The bartender didn’t know Angelica.  The drinks he ordered went down very easy, but he was distressed over the way things were happening.

“Waitress.  Can you please get me someone who can help me?”  His anger continued to build.  The manager walked out within seconds.

“How may I help you sir?”

“I am looking for a girl named Angelica.  She worked here.”

“Oh, of course my friend, Angelica.  Give me a minute.  I will have her come down here.”

“Finally, someone who knows what’s happening.”  Chris said with excitement.

Another thirty minutes passed and his eyes never left the doors that entered the restaurant.   She appeared at the top of the stairs.  He sat up straight in the chair and tried his best to suck in his bulging stomach.

“Hola Pappi!” The young girl said.   When she got close, he realized it was not Angelica.  She walked over to him and sat down in the chair beside him.

“How are you?  Thank you for asking for me?”  She placed her hand on his leg, which Chris moved immediately.

“I am looking for another women named Angelica. Do you know her?”

Her demeanor completely changed and her English became more clear.

“Angelica, I knew her.  We were good friends, but she doesn’t work here anymore.”

“Can you tell me where I can find her?”  he asked.  The woman smiled.

“My friend, your Angelica, she is married now.  She found a rich man and moved to the U.S.”

“You should go with me upstairs Pappi, I will make you forget about her.”

Chris stood up fast and took in a deep breath.  He wanted to destroy everything in sight.

“What a fool I’ve been.  Damn it.”  He slowly walked away and never looked back.  The roses lay on the table.  A single petal had fallen off and landed on the card, which simply said, “Stay with me forever.”

"THE FIRE"

“Damn it, I just got called out. “ Carla sat up quickly and started picking up her things.

“Have to run babe.  Are you up for going out tonight?”  Carla asked as she was pulling jeans over her bathing suit.

Jenna didn’t answer.  She just pulled her glasses down to her nose and gave Carla an evil look.

“Ok, I am going to give you a break tonight, but we are going out tomorrow night!   You are not going to sit on your ass and sulk this whole vacation."

Carla ran up the hill with blanket in hand.  “Bye, I love you!”

“By, see ya, love ya, go away, I have to sleep!  Can’t believe she wanted to drink again tonight.”

She lowered her sunglasses and didn’t move for the rest of the day.  It was after the sun was down before Jenna would ever move.

“Miss, are you okay?”  Jenna opened her eyes slowly.  She laid on the ground, frightened.   Darkness engulfed her.

“It’s okay.  Don’t be scared.  I just saw you laying here and thought I should wake you up.”

The glow of a fire twenty feet away began to lighten her surroundings.  She remembered going to sleep on the beach.

“Oh, my God, what time is it.” Jenna asked.

The man laughed.   “It is around 8:15 pm.”

Jenna sat up and looked around.  She was a little embarrassed, a little scared and very cold.

“Wow, it is cold out here.”  She said shivering.  The corners of the man’s mouth turned upward and his perfect smile could be seen even at night.

“Well, my name is Seth.  If you want to come over by the fire, you can.”

Jenna looked up at the man who could have been an axe murder and smiled.

“Yes, I’ll come over, cause I’m freezing.  Give me a second.”

Seth walked over to the fire and opened a drink.  He could see the outline of Jenna’s body as she brushed away the sand.  She bent over and fluffed her long blonde hair.  Seth caught himself staring a little too hard and turned toward the fire.

“Thanks for saving me.”  Jenna said, as she walked up with her blanket wrapped around her.  Seth’s eyes brightened.

“I really don’t call waking you up, saving you, but I’ll take the credit.”  He stood up politely as she walked into the light.  He took in every aspect of her being.

“Have a seat in one of these chairs, my friends aren’t coming back.”  Seth reached into the cooler and popped the top on a hard-cherry wine cooler.

“Here, you have to be thirsty.  You were out in the sun for at least three hours and in the moon for two.”

“Yes, I am.  Thanks.  I can’t believe I slept for so long.”

Seth shifted his chair around to face her. The fire sparkled in her eyes.  He had not seen another woman in this type of

light for a long time.  His heart ached as he watched her.

“You must have been really tired.”  Seth said.

“Well, I was really tired and really hung over, but I think I underestimated both.”

She looked at Seth and brought her drink up to her lips.  “Thanks for the drink and the fire.  I needed them both badly.  I am starting to warm up now.”

The cloud revealed the crescent moon and it illuminated the river for miles.

“OMG, that is so beautiful.  I never knew how much I missed about being outside until this moment.”

She stood up and walked down to the water’s edge.  Seth looked at her for the first time and couldn’t speak.  He just watched her actions, as she took in the moment.  Neither spoke for over twenty minutes.  They just contemplated their own situation.  Then both spoke at the same time.

\

“I am, oh.”  “No, I was.”  “You go.”  Seth finally won out.

“I was just going to say that I was sorry.  It is just my wife.”  Seth said.  Jenna interrupted him.

“So, you are married?” She asked   He tried to speak, but the sound came out more as a gurgle, than words.

“Yes, uh no.  No, I am not married.  My wife is dead.  She died in a car accident two years ago.”

“I’m sorry.”  Jenna said in a whisper.

“I come down here because she told me to.”  Jenna looked at him puzzled.

“It happened a couple of weeks ago, I was dreaming that we were in the hospital after the accident.  She never regained consciousness before she died, but in my dream, she awoke.  I was so happy.  There were so many things I wanted to say to her, but she wouldn’t let me.”  Seth looked at the fire thinking about the vision.

“Her hand touched my mouth where I wouldn’t say anything.”  Seth sniffled.

“She said, “It’s time that you left my side and start to live again.”  I didn’t want to listen.  I tried to pull away from her hand.  I wanted to tell her that I loved her, but she wouldn’t let me.”   The reflection of the fire sparkled in his eyes, as he fought back the tears.

“Then she said, “Go to our place and learn to be happy.  That is what I want.”  I would do anything for her, but it was so strange.”  He was silent for a moment.  He looked at Jenna and shook his head.

“My wife leaned forward and kissed me.  Then she laid back and passed away, the same as she had before.”  He looked back down at the fire.

“So, I have been coming here, every night for the last two weeks, trying to figure out what she meant.”

Jenna cleared her throat.  “Well, that is so sad, but at the same time so heart-warming.  To love like that is what I have always wanted.”  Seth waited for her to continue, but there was nothing more.

“Your single?” Seth asked.  Jenna bit her lips to stifle her tongue.  “No, I am married.”

Seth’s eyebrows lifted as if it were a surprise.  “I am sorry.  That was not what I expected to hear.”  He chuckled.  Jenna smiled.

“Why?  Did you not expect me to be married?”  She asked.  Seth lifted his hands and shrugged his shoulders.

“Well, I, I, I, can’t explain it.  When I saw you and you came over, I thought.”   Jenna cut him off.

“Oh, I see.  You thought I was the answer to your wife’s request and that I was sent here by fate and we would live happily ever after?”  Jenna chuckled loudly.

“Well, I am afraid your fairy God Mother tricked us both.  Some princess, I am married to a man who doesn’t love me.  He is presently in Punta Cana fucking his Hispanic girlfriend which I originally paid for!”

“I need a drink.”  Seth said.  He stood up and walked over to the cooler.

“I need another too.”  Jenna said loudly.  When he turned around.  He had a bottle of tequila.  Jenna fell back on the sand laughing.  “Aw hell, here we go.”

“The Swim”

Four hours and a half a bottle of tequila later, you could hear the laughter, all the way across the river.  It was as if they had known each other for life.  Tales of their high school and college years, stupid married things and even Chris’s infidelity all came out.  Instead of crying, Jenna was now laughing.

“Ok…I am going for a swim.”  Jenna said and stood up.  She ran toward the water and never slowed.  It was only waist deep for twenty feet, but she fell half way, kicking, laughing and screaming.  It was only seconds before Seth joined her.  He dove under the water, grabbed her foot and pulled her under.

He came up laughing, but Jenna was missing.  Seth became worried because he couldn’t find her and the water was very murky.

“Jenna.   Jenna!”  He went under and looked for her, but the water was too dark.  He couldn’t see anything.  He came back up in a panic.

    “Jenna!”  He yelled loudly.

When he brushed the water from his face, she jumped onto his back and forced him under the water.

“Gotcha.”  She said.  He was still yelling her name, when he went under water.  When he came up, he was laughing hysterically in her arms.

“I am going to whip your ass.”  He said teasingly.

Her arms were around his neck.  He turned toward her and they were so close. Neither wanted to pull away.  Slowly, their lips touched and neither reacted. His hands fell on her hips.  Both inhaled quickly, as if they had been shocked, but neither moved.  His mouth rubbed across hers and the want was evident.  Jenna turned her head and allowed their cheeks to touch, not moving or saying a word.  Her blonde hair hang down onto his neck and shoulders.

She had not noticed his body until now, just his face and laughter.  Her hands were on his arms.  His biceps were large and his chest was full.  Jenna swallowed hard thinking about what may happen.  Confusion, heartache and revenge all came to mind, but it really didn’t matter, she was already caught in the moment.

Her head touched his shoulders exposing her neck to his lips.  He gently caressed her with his mouth, sliding gently down the slope of her neck to her shoulder.  She breathed in deeply and her chest expanded pressing against his.  He could feel her erect nipples teasing him.

“I want you so bad.  God, you are making my head spin.” He whispered.

She placed her lips on his ear.  “It’s the tequila.”  His heart lightened.  A smile came across his face and his eyes lit up.

“Well, it could be, I suppose or it might be that I have just found the right person.”

“Do you believe in love at first sight.”  He asked.

“Yes, if you have a seventy IQ, only have sex in common and don’t want the relationship to last beyond my tits starting to sag.  Then yes, I do believe in love at first sight.”

He brushed the water from his face.  “You are very quick witted.” Seth said.

“In Brookwood, we call that being a smart ass.”  Jenna smiled and it was as bright as the moonlight caressing the water.

“I want to go jump off the cliff.” Jenna said excited.

   “What, what cliff?”

“There is a small bluff around the bend.  Let’s go jump off.”  Jenna started to move toward the beach without waiting for an answer.

“I want some excitement.”  Jenna said loudly.

The corners of Seth’s mouth turned up and he began to follow.

“Yes, me too!  That just wasn’t what I had in mind!”  He said below his breath.

“The Cliff”

She wrapped herself in a towel.  Seth walked up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders.  Jenna stopped and closed her eyes, waiting and hoping for what he may do next.  He gently placed his lips on her neck and whispered.

\

“If this is a dream, I pray that I never wake up.”

Jenna took in a deep breath and pulled his large arms around her.  For a moment, they enjoyed the embrace.  The light of the moon illuminated the large body of water for over a mile.  The green banks of the river framed the shades of blue.

   “What a view.” She whispered.

He embraced her tightly and then turned her toward him.  Their lips met and the heat from their bodies gave away their intent.  Jenna squeezed her legs together to ease the sensation of blood running to places that had been neglected.

“MMMmmm.”  The moan came from deep within her.  She pulled him down onto her mouth and kissed him passionately.  Her eyes were closed and no one else existed except the two of them.

The heat from their bodies told their desires.  Slowly, Jenna pulled away and placed her head on his chest.

“We better go dive in before we get carried away.”  She reached down and took his hand.

Without hesitation, Seth pulled away and placed the blanket around the two of them.  They held each other lovingly, as they walked without talking over to the cliff.  Jenna leaned against him as if their bodies were pieces of a puzzle that were finally complete.

They stood at the top of the small cliff and looked over the edge.

“Sure, you want to do this?” Seth asked.  Jenna looked at him lovingly.

“I am sort of a tomboy.”  She stepped in front of him with her back to the water.

He looked over her shoulder, down to the water’s edge.

“Do you want me to go first.”  His voice sounded with a little hesitation.

“No, I’ll go first.  I’ve done this a thousand times growing up.”

]

Seth looked at the surface again.  “Well, it is a little way down.”

Jenna reached up and kissed him.  She pulled away quickly, but Seth held her tight.  They stood holding each other, looking deep into the other’s eyes.  They tried desperately to find the other.  Their souls had made this connection many decades before.  There they stood, in the presence of this life, holding each other once more.

“You feel so good, like I have known you forever.  Who are you?”  She said laughingly.  The voice in her mind called out to her.

Jenna looked at Seth and took a step backwards, to the rock’s edge.

“Be careful, you are too close.”  He said, then reached out for her.  She turned and looked backwards, then winked at him.

“See you at the bottom.”  She blew him a kiss, then turned a back flip into the river.

Her feet entered the water perfectly fifteen feet below.

“Holy Shit.  You scared the hell out of me.  I am NOT doing that.” He yelled down to her

“Come in, the water feels great.”  She said from below.

Seth looked over the edge ten more times before he made the leap.  He over rotated a little when he entered the water causing his shorts to balloon out.  The explosion of the water took them off and the current washed them away.  He tried desperately to find them, before he came back up.  It was just too dark under the water.

“Wasn’t that fun.  Let’s do it again.”  Jenna said.

“HMMM, better not do that.”  He said as he chuckled.

   “Why, did you hurt yourself?”

“No, not exactly.  I, I lost my pants when I hit the water and I can’t find them.”

“Oh, My God, Really.  Then let’s do it again.  I’d like to see this.”  She teased.

“I don’t know if I could take hitting the water wrong with my luggage unprotected”

“Come over here and I’ll talk you into jumping again.”

They swam over to the bank.   Jenna turned and waited for Seth to catch up. They stood on the rocky ledge and held each other close.  Her conscience kept talking to her.

“Am I really doing this?  I am married.”  She had not seen another man naked, since she was in High School.  Jenna had always wondered how other men were, but never dreamed of acting on it.  Her love for Chris occupied her mind for twenty years.  The children were her life and her husband was her pride and joy.  She had made the decision to move on today, because her sons were grown and her husband did not want her any longer.

“I may not move on today, but at least, I will test the waters.”

Seth’s hands began to explore her curves and a part of her mind immediately rejected him.  She pulled back and looked at him closely.  His eyes reflected the moons light, just as the water did.  Jenna exhaled loudly as she decided what to do.  She closed her eyes submitting to him, allowing him to take her.  He gently kissed her lips and the touch was electric. She pushed her body on to him.  Her bare belly touched him and there was no mistake of what she felt and it was huge.

“Oh no.  Wow, uh…I don’t know about that.”  For a moment, the thought of it inside her was frightening.  She contemplated it pushing inside, stretching her from all angles.  She bit her lip, because fear had been replaced by desire.  Jenna reached under his arms and pulled him close.  Her nails lightly dug into his back.  She reached down and placed her hands on his cheeks.  It was solid and her want increased.  Her hands grabbed him and pulled him toward her.  The size of him pushed against her bathing suit bottoms and rubbed against her as he flexed back and forth.

He placed his lips on hers and gently made love to her mouth.  His lips and tongue explored her body.  The coolness of the water against her neck was a stark contrast to the heat of his mouth.  She sat up. He backed away slowly.  Her hand uncoupled the top of her bathing suit.  For a moment, he couldn’t move.  He was mesmerized by her shape and how her pink nipples sat on top of her beautiful breast.

He gently toyed with her nipples.  Her slender legs wrapped around him and forcefully pulled him against her.  She couldn’t take it any longer.  It was time.  Her body needed him desperately inside.  He continued, knowing what she wanted.  He moved slowly and allowed her to grow the fire that had come alive inside her.

“Baby.” She whispered.  “I need you so bad.  Ohhhhh.”  She grabbed his hair and pulled his head down onto her breast.  He pushed her up onto the rock slab and she laid back.  Her legs pushed upward and he slid her bottoms off and tossed them on the bank.  He ran his hands up her legs and pushed them apart.  The heat from his mouth caught her off guard and her stomach muscles clinched.  She grabbed his hair and forced his face down on her.  His tongue went deep inside.

The next ten seconds was all it took.  The suction from his mouth on her made her lose focus.  The gentle biting of his teeth and the motion of his tongue brought her to the edge.

“Oh baby, please, put it in me, please.”

Her mind began to swirl.  She bit on her lips as her desired overwhelmed her senses.  The veins in her neck expanded and she pushed her feet against the rocks.

“Yes, Seth.  Baby.”   His fingers went deep inside her, moving quickly back and forth while his mouth and tongue continued to bring her further into her climax.  She tried to pull away, but he continued.  He felt the warmth of her against his lips and did not stop.  Her hands tried to force him away, but her orgasm became more intense and she pulled him back down on to her.  Jenna began to relax and Seth pulled away.  He eased his body upward and looked in her eyes.

“Jenna, you are amazing.”  She sat up and kissed him softly.  They sat there and held each other, until she was ready for him.

“Maybe we shouldn’t go any further.” Seth said.  He knew in his mind, he wanted more from Jenna than just sex.

She came out of the little sexual cloud and reached down to him.  Her small fingers barely touched.

“Baby, I want you so bad.  I need you.  Don’t keep it from me.”  Her mind was consumed with the thought of him being inside her.

Their eyes met and he knew he couldn’t deny her.  They kissed passionately and then he stood above her.  The size of him took her breath.  She sat up on her knees and took him in her mouth.  Seth’s heart raced as the blood filled him even more.  Jenna took him in deep and her eyes never lost sight of his.

“Baby, you have to stop.  Damn!”   He reached down and placed his hands under her arms.  Seth lifted her with ease.  He brought her out of the water and sat her onto the ledge.  Jenna’s mind was racing.  She was just at waist level.  He took in the vision of her laying in front of him.  Gently, he spread her legs apart.  She felt her skin stretch as he pushed against her.

“Ooohhh, damn.”  She reached down and took him her hands.  Her fingers guided him up and down.  Jenna was so hot and wet.  Seth throbbed knowing that he would soon be inside her.   He bent over and kissed her.   She wanted him deep in her.  The thought of him inside, stretching over him consumed her emotion.

Jenna wanted to fill the pounding inside .  He bent over and kissed her.  Their eyes met.  She knew this wasn’t right.  Never, did she think that it would go this far.  Her mind was torn and her heart was still broken.

"The Passion"

Jenna touched her soft lips against his.  The warmth of his mouth made her quiver with anticipation.  She sat back against the rocks.  The reflection of the moon on the water cast a silvery haze over the river bank.  The outline of Seth against the heavenly light took her breath.  She wanted him inside her, but the guilt was already building.  He could see it in her eyes.  For a moment, he stood in front of her, thinking of how it would be.  He knew this may be the last time he would ever see her in this position.  It was a first and last time to feel the warmth of her body.

Seth couldn’t continue.  He reached down and kissed her, then sat her up.  She looked up at him with wanting eyes.

“What is it.  Is something wrong?” She asked.  Her breast straddled him.  She took him in her hand and she place her mouth on him.  For a moment, he lost his conviction.  He pulled back and chuckled to himself.  He shook off the urge to lay her back and push deep inside her.

“Nothing is wrong, just the opposite.  Everything is great.  You are more than I have ever dreamed.”  He hesitated as he thought of how to explain his thoughts.

“I don’t want you to have any regrets.  When I take you, I want it to be forever.”

She extended her body and kissed him with appreciation.  Her hand felt the features of his face as if her mind was absorbing every contour.  He allowed her to place her finger on his lips and he gently bit the ends of her fingers and massaged them with his tongue.

“MMMM.  I do love that.  Oh, my God.”  She whispered softly.  He reached his arms under her legs and lifted her.  Her lungs filled with air, as her legs spread wide.  No one had ever manhandled her  in this manner.  She felt so vulnerable.  Her body quivered, because she was completely opened and exposed.   Jenna’s mind swirled as the thought of him sliding inside made her body ache.

He turned and sat down on the rock without entering her, but pushed across her wet opening.  She dug her nails into his back as his full length pressed upward and stopped above her naval.   His mouth explored her body.  He reached around the contours of her back.  His fingers went through her hair and he clinched his fist.  He pulled back, Jenna’s mouth came open and she placed her neck down on his mouth.

“Damn you.”  Jenna said laughing.  “You are going to make me beg aren’t you.”

“You will never have to beg me for anything that is yours for the taking.”

She imagined herself arching her body and thrusting down on him, until it would not go any further.  Her eyes closed as she started to raise in the air, but her heart would not let her do it.  She dropped her head onto his shoulder.

“I am sorry.”  She said as the life went out of her body.

“Don’t be Jenna.  I hope this is just a start.”

“I don’t know where my life goes from here Seth.  If I have my way, Chris will come back and we can work things out.”

He lowered his head.  Slowly, he kissed her, taking in the last moments he may ever spend with her.

“I want nothing more than for you to be happy. I am going on vacation in two days.  If things don’t work out, I want you to go with me.”

Jenna laughed.  “You don’t even know me and you want me to go away with you?”

He looked down at his body and was still very hard.  “Well, I can say that parts of me want to get to know you a lot better.  I do feel like I know you.  It’s almost like I have known you forever.  I can’t explain it.”

“I understand, I feel the same way.” Jenna agreed.

They sat in the moon light at the water’s edge and talked about the love of their lives, their disappointments and their achievements.  By the time the night was over, they had laughed and cried many times.  He walked to her car and made sure that she was safe.

“Jenna, I don’t know where we go from here.  I know you don’t believe in love at first sight, but I do.  All I’m asking is give me a chance to get to know you.  If you go with me, there will be no promises, just enjoyment.”

She raised her eyes knowing she would never call or go with him.  As she drove away, a tear ran down her cheek.  Jenna knew Chris would never be happy with her, but she married for better or worse.  Till death do us part wasn’t just empty promises.  To her, it meant everything.

“The Surprise”

Jenna woke with someone at the door.  She glanced at the bedroom clock.  The afternoon sun beamed through the window.  It was 1:00 in the afternoon.  The doorbell rang once more.

“OK, ok…I’m coming.”  She said loudly.  The robe closed simultaneously with the door opening.

“Can I help you.”  She asked.  The man was dressed in brown shorts and shirt.  She realized he worked for FedEx.

“Yes, no, yes” he said.  He couldn’t get his eyes off her cleavage which screamed at him from the top of the robe. “I am sorry.  Yes, I have a package for you.  Can you sign right here please?”

Jenna’s curiosity was peaked.  She hadn’t received a package in years.  The young man took a step back and his eyes never left her until the door closed.  It didn’t matter, because her attention was consumed with the package.  She slowly opened the box and looked inside.  There was a card, a rose and an airline ticket.

She gently smelled the single yellow rose and her memory took her back to the rocks.  The edges of her mouth turned upward and her eyes closed as she thought about the night before.  The destination on the ticket was to Acapulco, Mexico.  Her eyebrows raised.  Jenna opened the note and held the rose in her hand as she read.

   Jenna,

I can smell the scent of the fire on my clothes.  I probably won’t ever be able to sit around a campfire again without revisiting our time together.  I don’t want to push you into something, but I want you to know that I am very serious about my offer.

Please don’t say yes or no, just let your heart make the decision.  Either way, I will be happy knowing that you have resolved things in your mind.  I wish you a life of happiness and love.

    With all my heart.

    Seth

Jenna had already made up her mind.  She went to her bedroom and placed the ticket and letter in her chest of drawers.  She sat down by the picture of her and Chris, taken at their wedding.

“How could things have gone so wrong?”  She closed her eyes and imagined her husband as he used to be.  Jenna could barely remember him.  The person she was with now, was not the person she married.

She lay her head on a pillow and placed the picture on her chest.  Jenna thought about her wedding day.  Chris had saved every dime he earned for two years to pay for their honeymoon.  He had gotten on his knees, in front of everyone at the Alabama game and asked her to marry him.

“God, I would have married that man, if we had to live in a tent on the creek.”  She said out loud.

“Thank God we didn’t.”  A voice sounded from inside the bedroom.

The sound startled her and she jumped to a sitting position.  Chris was standing two feet away from her.  She let the picture drop to the bed and ran to him and jumped into his arms.

“Oh, my God, Oh my God, you’re home.”  Tears ran down her face, as he held her tight.

“I came home early, just to be with you.”  Anger was still fresh in his mind over Angelica.  He knew the words were a lie.  Jenna didn’t care whether the words were fake, she was just happy he was home.

“Are you hungry, can I make you something to eat?”  Jenna asked.

“Yes, that would be great.”  He said.  She couldn't help but notice his belly that extended  three inches past his belt, but it was all part of the life they had made.

Jenna prepared an outrageous meal.  She spared no expense and bought Chris a bottle of twenty-year-old Scotch to drink after dinner.

They sat beside each other at the table, silently.  She tried several times to carry on a conversation.  Each time, Chris responded with one word answers.

After dinner, he sat with the drink in his favorite chair.  Jenna sat across from him and  began to day dream.  For a moment, her mind drifted to the night before.

“Hey, put us on one of those Walking Dead season one movies.”  Chris said.   Jenna didn’t respond.

“Can’t you fucking hear.  I asked you to put on a Walking Dead DVD.  Are you deaf.”

    Jenna just stared at him.

“This is going to be my life.  I signed up for it.  Might as well make the best of it.”  She said to herself.

She stood up and walked across the room, a foot from where he was sitting and did as he asked.  The show started.  Jenna walked over to his chair and sat down on the floor in front of him.  Her hands massaged his leg as he watched his favorite movie.  She knew he hated to be aggravated when the show was playing.

The movie ended and Chris finished his fourth drink of Scotch.  Jenna stood in front of him in her small night gown.  The top didn’t cover her large breast.   Instead, it teasingly showed her belly just below.  She allowed it to fall in the floor.  He saw that she was completely naked.  His eyes checked out every line of her body as he compared her to Angelica.

“Her breast ain’t as perky as hers.  Angelica never shaved her hair.  There was always enough there to tease me. “ Chris thought in his mind.

Jenna climbed on top of him and placed both knees on each side of his legs.  She kissed him softly.

“I am all yours baby.”  Her lips gently kissed his.  He pushed her shoulders down and her knees slide off the chair.  She kneeled on the floor.  Her tongue licked her lips knowing what he wanted.  She unbuckled his pants and in a moment, he was completely naked.

Jenna touched him exactly the way he liked.  He would always brag to his friends about how well she could satisfy him orally.  Most of them fantasized about her and would have gladly taken care of Jenna, if they had been given an opportunity.

“Chris, thank you for coming home early.  I really.”  She stopped talking when he forced her head down on to him.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.  “BE CALM.” She thought to herself.

He was still soft and small enough to make it difficult to keep it in her mouth.  Jenna rubbed on him and touched the places that he loved, but there was nothing.   Her hands worked back and forth while her mouth took all of him.  There was just no excitement.

The frustration on Chris’s face told the whole story and the alcohol gave him the courage to let it out.

“That’s why I didn’t want to come back.”  Jenna stopped.  It felt as if he punched her in the stomach.

“I can’t even get a decent fucking blow job after twenty years.  You would think that you could at least learned how to suck my dick.  Look at you.  Nothing about you turns me on.”

Jenna was crushed.  She sat there on her knees looking at him in shock.  Anger rose inside her, tears were pouring down her face.

“Fuck you Chris, you little dick son of a bitch.  I’m sick of you.  If you don’t want to be with me, then go back to your whore.   Be sure and tell everyone else what their dick taste like.”

Jenna was shocked by the words that came from her mouth.  Chris had never heard a curse word from her.    She had barely finished her last sentence when his hand impacted her face.  The blow was enough to spin her around and put her naked body on the carpet.   Her face had the red imprint of his hand.  She was nearly unconscious, but the tears were no longer there.   He stood up and walked into the bathroom without saying a word.

Her naked body laid in that position for thirty minutes.  Chris never came back and checked on her.  He went into the spare bedroom, locked the door and didn’t come out.

She walked into her the bedroom and kneeled by the bed.  “God, please bless my husband.  He is a good man that has lost his way.  If it is your will that I stay, please  help me stand by him.  Lord, please just have your way in my life.”

“The Airport”

Seth took a shuttle to the Birmingham Airport.  He knew that Jenna would not show.  People like the two of them make lifetime commitments.  Unfortunately, his commitment had been cut short.  He looked into the morning sky and was amazed to still see the North Star.  The night he had met Jenna, the star seemed to be floating in the sky above her, watching over the blanket where she laid.

He still couldn’t help but to look around for her.  He stood in line at security for nearly thirty minutes.  He looked at every person twice.  He had only seen her in and out of a bathing suit.  Seth laughed.

“If she shows, I may have to ask her to undress to recognize her.”  The thought of her made him happy, but Jenna was not there.

The third boarding call sounded and she had still not made it.  Seth went to the gate and handed the ticket to the attendant.  He slowly walked to the plane down the ramp  He looked back every ten steps.  The woman at the door tried to rush him on board.   He glanced back, then lowered his head to miss the door facing.

A sadness was within him that he could not explain.  He had a sixth sense that never failed him.  Somehow, it kept telling him that she was going to be with him.

He walked down the aisle and looked at the three empty seats on his left.  Seth placed his bag above the seat and sat down.

He sat there watching out the window as the huge plane took off.  On the other side of the runway, a woman waved frantically at the plane.  He jumped up on his knees trying to make her see him, but he couldn’t tell if it was possible.

“Sir, you have to sit down.  Sir.”

    “I’m sorry, I’m sitting.”

Seth sat down in his seat contemplating what to do.  He wanted to jump up and try to open the door, but he knew it may get him thrown in jail.  The airport was soon out of site.  The attendant was coming down the aisle on the other side of the plane.

“Sir, excuse me.  You are in the wrong seat, 32f is on this side of the plane.”

    He looked totally confused.

“Yes, I am talking to you.”  She said.

Chris stood up quickly, took his bag out of the top and walked across the aisle.  The attendant opened the door to the luggage compartment and he placed his bag into the bin.

“Thank you, sir.” The attendant said as she closed the door.

Seth looked down at his empty seat.  Beside it was a beautiful blonde with a very pretty smile.

“I was beginning to think I was stood up.”  Jenna said.

He was in shock.  Seth jumped on top of her and kissed her wildly.  The laughter from her and the people around them filled the plane.  Seth sat down and could not take the smile off of his face.

“Are you sure about this.”  He asked.

Jenna’s blue eyes sparkled and a smile came up on her face.

“I am pretty sure.  When I went to sleep last night, I asked God for a sign.  At four o’clock this morning, I woke up to something sticking me.  I looked in the bed and it was the rose you gave me.”

    Both of their eyes brightened.

“I am more confused about where I am going than at any time in my life.”  She said.

“What I do know is, where ever this road takes me, I will decide the path I take to get there.”

Seth kissed her softly and took her by the hand.

Jenna smiled because she knew that she had experienced an "Awakening" and this was just the first of many.
